Gratitude beckons a reckoning of the undeserved gift
The justification and perfect emancipation
which could've never been paid
the price too high- the act too complete.
Yet the gift came and was given granted in love
motivated, prepared, and pronounced
by a longing to not be apart
the idea of that- not designed.
And now, it's here, given to us to what result?
We abuse, disregard and trample with no shame
the gift how could we
the price paid was so high- my heart breaks.
Why do we, Church, look away with such indifference
lack of reverence and utter forgetfulness
no gratitude but presumption for the grace, mercy and freedom
in the gift we were given- Jesus- the Living Christ.
